How do I import herd test results and show them on the broadcast display?

In order to get herd test data from your provider to your screen there are a few steps to follow. You will need to create
Custom Columns
for the data you are importing, you will need to export the data from your provider and you will need to import the data into the columns you created. These steps are detailed below.
1. Creating Custom Columns
Creating a custom column allows you to add data from other sources (like Herd Test data). You will need to create a new column for each type of data you want to import.
To create a Custom Column:
1. Go to
Administration > Manage Custom Data
2. Click
Create New Field
3. Enter a
Name, Description
and
Data Type
(BW is expressed as "10/80" so this is
text
, SCC is expressed as "40" so this is a
number
)
4. Click
Create Field
5. Repeat steps 2 to 4 for each type of data.
2. Importing Data from Minda
In order to get the information from Minda it will need to be exported as a
custom report
.
To export from Minda:
1. Create a
Custom Report
(name it something easy like 'Milkhub import file') with the data you would like (including the herd test data).
2. View this report in the
Minda report viewer
, and export as an
Excel file.
3. Save the file to your computer (remember where you save it!)
Once you have the file from Minda go to
Administration > Import Minda Files
Click on the red
Import Cow Data
button
Click the
Browse
button and locate the file you saved earlier then click
Upload
Make sure the column headings are correct and click
Next
Check that the changes are correct and check any errors then click
Apply
2. Importing Data from Other Sources
Data can be imported from any
text
or
Excel
file (.txt or .csv or .xls).
Make sure the file has what you need (Visual IDs, Electronic IDs, Date of Birth, etc.) and save it to your computer (remember where you save it!).
If the file is saved as .txt make sure there is a comma between each entry. e.g.:
VID,Electronic ID,Age
4,9820000111111,5
638,9820000222222,3
301,982000333333,7
Once you have the file from your provider go to
Administration > Import Non-Minda Files
Click on the red
Import Cow Data
button
Click the
Browse
button and locate the file you saved earlier then click
Upload
Make sure the column headings are correct and click
Next
Check that the changes are correct and check any errors then click
Apply
3. Creating a Custom Panel
You will only need to create one Custom Panel for all of the data you imported earlier.
1. Go to
Settings > Broadcast Display
.
2. Click on
Manage Info Panels
on the right.
3. Click
Create a new info panel
on the left.
4. Enter a name for the panel and click
Create Panel
.
5. Select the new panel from the drop-down box on the left.
6. Click the
Change
button, select what you would like to show on screen and press
Apply
.
7. If you would like to change the order simply drag and drop each line.
4. Showing the Information On Screen
1. Go to
Settings > Broadcast Display
.
2. If you have more than 1 display select the display you would like to change on the left.
3. Select the
Default Screen Mode
.
Fullscreen shows one part of the platform while Split Screen shows 2 different parts of the rotary
4. Select the
Default Info Panel
to show.
Select the Panel you just created.
5. Select the
Default camera Position
.
This is the location on the platform that the camera will be showing.
6. Click the
Save
button.
