If you are Person in Charge of Animals (PICA) on a property then you must register to get your unique NAIT number on the NAIT IT System here:
https://animaltrace.nait.co.nz/Account/Login.aspx
You can also ask an information provider (e.g. LIC or CRV Ambreed) to register you, or phone the NAIT contact centre on 0800 624 843 if you need help with registration.
All cows on a MilkHub farm should already have RFID tags that are NAIT compliant in their right ear (i.e. have a 15 digit EID number). Remember to update miHub before the start of the season with any new cows coming into your herd and clean up any duplicate Visual IDs in the Tagging Worksheet. See
Fixing Duplicate VIDs
Newborns must be tagged with NAIT approved RFID tags within 180 days of birth, or before their first off-farm movement.
Calves less than 30 days old that are moved directly to a meat processor do not have to be NAIT RFID tagged but do require a meat processor’s ‘direct-to-slaughter’ tag.
If you are currently a herd recording client of CRV Ambreed or LIC you can purchase your NAIT tags from them and the tags will be automatically uploaded to CRV Insight Web or Minda to allocate to your animals. The list of tags also appears in your NAIT account.
CRV Ambreed: If you purchased your NAIT tags from CRV Ambreed your file will be sent directly to MilkHub on your behalf and we will upload it to the Tag Cupboard in miHub.
LIC Minda: If you purchased your NAIT tags from LIC please export your new NAIT tags as a csv or excel spreadsheet file from Minda and email it to us to upload into the Tag Cupboard in miHub.
Farm Supply Store or Manufacturer: If you purchased your NAIT tags from a farm supply store or manufacturer the tag list will be provided to your NAIT account. You should also receive an electronic file from the supplier which you can email it to us for upload to the Tag Cupboard in miHub.
We recommend Allflex or Zeetags as the best options for MilkHub automation. Round EID tags are recommended for overhead antennae as they are less directionally sensitive and give better read results:
Do it yourself: You can export the tag file out of NAIT as a csv or excel spreadsheet and import it to the Tag Cupboard in miHub.
