It is very important you check your MilkHub equipment before you start your new milking season. This way, if there is a problem, there is time to fix it before you need it working
Platform
• Clean magic eye with a wet finger or non-abrasive cloth.
• Use a piece of paper / cardboard to check the distance the magic eye reads. Hold it in front of the magic eye and lower it to the platform. It should be set to read till about 300mm off the platform.
• Turn the milking plant on (to turn the Network Interface on), and run a few tagged cows over the platform. Ensure the reader picks them up and they are displayed on the screen correctly.
• Turn the feeder onto Auto - ensure the above few cows get fed correctly (feed drops at the correct time / place).
Keypad
• Ensure that pressing a button on the keypad wakes up the Milkhub display.
• Ensure the keypad menus look correct for your new season (eg VID 123, TREAT, check the menu).
• Ensure you and your staff use the flip booklet to re-familiarise yourselves with they keypad functions.
Drafting Gate
• Clean all magic eyes with a wet finger or non-abrasive cloth. This should also be done the day you start milking, and weekly after that.
• Ensure the air-pressure is set at 6 Bar / 600k Pa / 87 PSI on your compressor.
• Check for air leaks (listen for any hissing).
• Use the manual controller to check the gate opens in both directions and closes to centre without slamming.
• Ensure the gate is connected to the rest of the system by using the Keypad: Press "SYSTEM" , "LEFT" (gate should go left), "SYSTEM" , "CENTRE" (gate should centre).
Weigh Scale
• Clean underneath the weigh scale, clearing all buildup of muck and gravel.
• Check underneath the weigh scale to ensure there are no stones stuck in between the loadbars and the platform.
• Check calibration by placing a known weight (a person or set of weights) on different parts of the scale and check for consistency.
