Plant and Cleaning thresholds can be adjusted in Herd-man. Go to Summary Reports -> Plant/Cleaning Report -> Sensitivity Settings.

Mastitis

Mastitis Ratio The ratio of a single cows mastitis measurement compared to the rest of the herds measurements. It is measured over a 5 day period. A ratio of 1 indicates a cow that is unlikely to be infected. The higher the ratio the higher the possibility of infection.

Prime Mastitis Ratio A ratio that compares a single cows mastitis measurement against her own measurement from 7 days ago. A ratio of 1 indicates no change in measurements and she is unlikely to be infected. The higher the ratio, the higher the possibility of infection. The acceptable range of measurements is 0.95 - 1.05.

Yield

Yield Ratio A ratio enabling you to track a single cows performance against the herd average. The average producers are given a ratio of 1. A cow with a ratio of 0.5 is thus producing 50% of the average cow in the herd.

Litres The volume in litres the average cow is producing after you have entered your vat pickup information.

Milk Efficiency To be used in conjunction with live weights (Walk over Weighing needed). The cow's production adjusted for her weight over 7 days, and averaged at 100. Cows below 100 are producing less volume per weight than the average cow in the herd.

Yield 2wks A change in the yield ratio measured against the cow's yield ratio 2 weeks ago.

Cleaning Performance

Volume Ratio Sufficient quantity of water over the cleaning cycle to sweep out milk residues in pipework. Ratio begins at 0 with a recommended setting of 2.0. Volume Ratio errors occur when the ratio is outside of 1.7 - 2.5 and may be due to insufficient hot water in hot water cylinder, blocked jetters or broken rubberware.
Flow Ratio Speed of water needed to clean corners and pipework efficiently. Ratio begins at 0 with a recommended setting of 0.8. Flow Ratio errors occur when the ratio is outside of 0.72 - 1.00 and may be due to blocked jetters, incorrectly balanced jetters or folded rubberware.
Hot Water Temperature Average Hot Water wash temperature of all the bails. Measured in degrees Celcius with a recommended setting 65°C. Hot Water errors occur when the temperature is colder than 61°C and hotter than 81°C and are due to the hot water wash not being up to temperature, or being too hot.

Plant Performance

Slip Ratio Small bubbles of air seen in the milk through the bail. Slip ratio begins at 1 with a recommended setting of 2. Slip Ratio errors occur when the ratio is outside of 1.8 - 2.5 and may be due to broken or split liners.
Air Ratio Gulps of air seen in milk through the bail. Air ratio begins at 1 with a recommended setting of 1.3. Air Ratio errors occur when the ratio is outside of 1.2 and 2.0 and may be due to a claw bowl hole, loose claw bowl or split rubber.
Duration (Slow) Ratio Time a given bail takes to milk out a cow vs other bails. Duration (Slow) Ratio begins at 1 with a recommended setting of 1.2. Duration (Slow) Ratio errors occur when the ratio is outside of 1.1 - 2.0 and may be due to a faulty pulsator, incorrect air flow or low vacuum.
